wounds hurt, but they would scar and heal.
But who would be there to put him back together next time? Janet was gone. He should have been there to save her. She had come to mean so much to him, as much
as Carter, but different.
Janet's
office door was unlocked. He stepped
in. Her lab coat hung on the back of a chair. He knew what he needed and pulled it from the
pocket, the dreaded pen light.
He
clutched it tightly as he drew a deep ragged breath mixed with anger, sorrow,
and frustration. The pen light was
slipped into the pocket over Jack’s aching heart, a little piece of Janet he
would keep forever.
